Joseph Kennedy Sr., 77 of York, was born February 9, 1940 in Holly Hill, South Carolina. He departed this life on Saturday, January 20, 2018. Joseph was the son of the late Grace(Macon) and Preston Kennedy Sr. Joe as he was affectionately known was an entrepreneur of several businesses: Kennedy’s Restaurant & Lounge; Restaurants (Mama’s, Kennedy’s, and Ole Man Kennedy) Five corner stores (Joe’s/Manor St Grocery).

Joe leaves to cherish fond memories his wife Margaret (Aiken) Kennedy; two daughters Linette Kennedy-Owens(son-in-law Lavern) Orangeburg, SC and Lisa Kennedy of York; two sons Joseph Kennedy Jr. and To’Shiro (Sean)Kennedy both of York; three brothers James Kennedy, and Charles Kennedy both of Cross, SC and Ronald Kennedy(Carolyn) of York; two sisters Joann Husser his twin of Cross, SC and Virginia Wallace of York; a sister-in-law Ruth Kennedy, 7 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and friends. In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by brothers Preston, William, Richard and Robert Kennedy; sisters Eunice Kennedy, Helen Elaine Diggs and Martha Mae Holland.

Joe loved the Blues music, enjoyed cooking, fishing, hunting and playing cards. Cards, flowers, and acts of kindness can be sent to The Kennedy Family, 1395 Wellington Drive, York, PA 17408.
