Gary L. Hopkins, Sr., 67, entered into rest on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at Manor Care in York. He was the husband of Gayle M. (Rider) Hopkins. Gary was born on July 23, 1950 in York to the late Emmitt A. and Eva C. (Banks) Hopkins.

Gary was educated through the York City School System and during his years of employment, he worked for Penn Waste from where he retired. Gary loved children and enjoyed being a mentor for the youth in the community; he was a Grand Master… Read More » of Taekwondo for 47 years, but most of all he enjoyed spending time and being around his family and friends. In addition to his loving wife, Gayle, Gary leaves to cherish his memory four sons, Gary L. Hopkins, Jr., Emmitt A. Hopkins, Evan B. Hopkins and Ian M. Hopkins all of York; two stepsons, Carl Sgambelluri of Seattle and Daniel Sgambelluri of TX; two daughters, Mindy Moore and Garalynne Williams both of Harrisburg; four brothers, Brian Hopkins, Darvin Hopkins, Pierre Hopkins and Lorne Hopkins, Sr. all of York; two sisters, Chiquita Nelson and Tarita Hopkins both of York; four grandchildren; seven step grandchildren; and a host of other family members and friends.
