Runnette M. Owens, 75 of York entered into rest on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at York Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Runnette was born in Philadelphia, PA on March 28, 1943 to the late Rufus and Inez Gordon. She graduated from William Penn High School in Philadelphia, PA.

Runnette was the wife of Gennie A. Owens with whom she shared 54 years of marriage. Runnette worked as a daycare provider at Abbottsford Community Center and Crispus Attucks Community… Read More » Center before returning to college to start a new career as a Medical Office Manager. She then, worked for Wellspan Health formerly known as Yorktowne Family Medicine for 20 years until she retired.

Runnette loved playing the lottery, going to the Casino, collecting elephants, shopping and hosting family get togethers, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Runnette was an active member in her church serving on the deaconess board. In addition to her loving husband, Runnette leaves to cherish her memory two sons, Kevin and Marcus (Tanisha) both of Philadelphia, PA; one daughter Michelle of Newark, DE; six brothers Waymon Gordon of Savannah, GA, Moe Ferguson (Rosalyn) of Shirley, MA, Vincent Hill, Joel Clyde, Anthony and Ronald Bailey all of Philadelphia, PA; two sisters Wildred Tillman (Lloyd) of West York, PA and Renee Bailey of Philadelphia, PA; eight grandchildren Larry III (Kashmere) of Norfolk, VA, Ebonie, Essence, Marquis, Tiyaasa, Treasure, Takara and Marcus II; five great grandchildren Jeramiah, Brielle, Josiah, Lawren and Bailee; best friend of sixty years Ethel Brinkley, second mother Mae Bailey, close friends Rosita Spencer and Gretchen Williams, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of other family members and friends.

Upon Runnette’s arrival in heaven she will be greeted by her parents and three siblings Regina Fitchett, Gwendolyn Williams and Rufus Gordon.
