Barbara Jean Beattie on Wednesday, October 31, 2018 entered into God’s eternal rest at the age of 64 with her family by her side. Barbara was the daughter of the late Leonard Vernon and Anna Mary (Harris) Beattie. She was born June 8, 1954, the seventh of eight children.

Barbara graduated from William Penn Senor High School, York and she continued her education at Cheyney University of Pennsylvania. Barbara had a love for her community and people; she served as Director… Read More » and a board member of the Northeast Neighborhood Association. She was a former board member for York County Human Relations and she was a York County Elected Majority Inspector.

Barbara also led an Outreach Ministry program within her neighborhood. She was an avid gardener and had a love for interior design. Barbara is survived by one daughter, Ashleigh A. Beattie, two beautiful granddaughters Marleigh and Marlowe; three brothers, Benson and Gary Beattie both of York, and Bernard Beattie of Pittsburg, Pa; two sisters Gloria and Connie Beattie both of York.

In addition to her parents, Barb was preceded in death by two brothers, Leonard Beattie and Thomas Beattie.
