Obituary for Sylvia E. Sagen Sylvia E. Sagen, 71, of Hellam, PA, died at her residence on October 31, 2018 following an eighteen year battle with Parkinson’s disease. She was the wife of John M. Sagen, Jr. of Hellam, PA. Born January 11, 1947 in Easton, PA, she was the daughter of the late Sherwood and Emily (Messinger) Hill.

Sylvia was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Hallam, a longtime member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Johnsonville, PA and a former member of the Order of Eastern Star, Penn Argyl, PA. In addition to her husband, Sylvia is survived by a son, Kevin Sagen and his wife, Amy of Camp Hill, PA, a daughter, Amy Miller and her husband, Cory of York, PA, five granddaughters, Samantha and Alexandra Sagen and Juliet, Makenzie and Makayla Miller, a brother, Bruce Derr of Knoxville, TN and a step sister, Barbara Lockard of Walnutport, PA. Following cremation, a memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 24, 2018 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 2445 Lake Minsi Drive, Bangor, PA 18013.

The family will receive friends and guests at a luncheon at the church, following the service. A private burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation, 200 SE 1st Street Suite 800, Miami, FL 33131 Arrangements by the Etzweiler Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, 1111 E. Market St. York, PA 17403.
