Obituary for Edith M. Smeltzer Edith M. Smeltzer, 98, of York, died on October 27, 2018 at York Hospital. She was the wife of the late Merle E. Smeltzer. Born in Lower Windsor Township on March 3, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Horace and Sallie (Strickler) Keller.

Edith was a homemaker. She was a member of Canadochly Lutheran Church and was a former member of the Yorkana Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary. Her favorite pastime was quilting.

She is survived by four children, John M. Smeltzer and his wife, Evelyn of Hellam Twp. , Mary L. Bowser and her husband, John of Springettsbury Twp. , Eugene E. Smeltzer and his wife, Janet of Hellam Twp.

and Ray H. Smeltzer of Lower Windsor Twp. ; eight grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Canadochly Lutheran Church, 4921 East Prospect Road, York, PA 17406. Viewings will be held on Tuesday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Etzweiler Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, 1111 East Market Street, York and Wednesday from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in Canadochly Cemetery.
