Obituary for Charles A. Slenker Charles A. “Charlie” Slenker, 96, of York died October 30, 2018 at York Hospital. He was the husband of Dorcas M. (Jacobs) Slenker. Charlie and Dorcas were married for 72 years.

Born July 20, 1922 in York, he was the son of the late Charles E. Slenker. Charlie was a U.S. Army veteran serving during WWII under George S. Patton. He was the Mayor for the West York Borough for 24 years.

He was the owner of Manning and Slenker Tile Contractor and also worked at several other jobs. He was a 1941 graduate of West York High School. Charlie was a very active member of St. James Lutheran Church in West York.

He was a 60 year member of the Rotary Club of West York where was involved in many different activities. Charlie was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Chuck and his wife, Mary Ellen Slenker of Bradenton, FL; 2 daughters, Judy and her husband, John Vasellas of York and Kathy and her husband, David Shenk of Port Orange, FL; 8 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Richard Slenker, Kenneth Slenker, and Donald Slenker. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 5, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at St. James Lutheran Church, 25 North Adams Street, York, PA 17404 with his pastor, the Rev. Darcy M. Reis, officiating.

Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery. Graveside military rites will be conducted by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. James Lutheran Church, 25 North Adams Street, York, PA 17404.
