Obituary for Kenneth Steven Gurley II It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Kenneth Steven Gurley, II on October 29th 2018 at the age of 38. Stevie is survived by his two sons Dylan Steven Gurley and Colin James Gurley; Mother Kathleen LaPradd and Father Kenneth Gurley, and Step Mother Dottie Gurley; Grandparents Doris Shumaker, John Shumaker and Cathy Gurley; sister Jenn Gurley and sister-in-law Vanessa Gurley; sister Kathleen Gurley and fiancé Jason Barger; nieces and nephews Vanae Foster, Darius Johnson, Gaby Jones, Lexi Barger, Devin Barger, and Braydon Barger. He is also survived by his Uncle Joe and Aunt Nancy Norris; Aunts Sharon Shumaker, Denise Gaul, and Sherry Wilson and an enormous extended family of additional aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Stevie was known by those that loved him for his big loving heart and charismatic personality. He loved corny jokes, sailing, music, laughing, making people laugh, movies (especially Rocky II), the Redskins, camping, the ocean, and above all other things–being with his sons. He was a skilled craftsman, a hard worker, and always willing to lend a helping hand.
Sadly, Stevie’s voyage through this life was strained by his illness. Stevie’s family would like to raise awareness about this epidemic that has or will touch us all at some point. Raising awareness of this terrible epidemic that is stealing the lives of otherwise healthy young people across this nation and to the absence of a concerted response addressing this tragedy.
Stevie’s life was cut short by his illness and he has joined countless others whose lives fell to this powerful disease. To those struggling with alcohol addiction, please remember that you are not alone. There is help available.
To all the loved ones who may have a family member struggling with this disease, cherish every moment you have with them as you never know when it will be the last. In Stevie’s final selfless act, he provided hope to many who are in need of life saving organ transplants allowing numerous people an opportunity at a better quality of life.
