Obituary for JoAnn Dee Irvine JoAnn Dee Irvine died Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at Manor Care North after complications from dementia. JoAnn was born to parents Willis (Buzz) Gotwalt & Blanche Berkheimer Gotwalt Harris on November 19, 1934 in York. She attended schools in York and worked at York Hospital as a technician.
On June 27, 1953 JoAnn married the late Richard W. Irvine in York, PA. JoAnn was a dedicated homemaker who stood beside her husband throughout his career as a successful business man. The family lived in New Jersey, Philadelphia area, and York, where she & Richard lived in retirement.
JoAnn loved to travel, visiting several countries in Europe and spending time in Ireland, from where Richard emigrated in 1952. Most of all she loved to cruise, especially to the Caribbean, with dining out a close second as a favorite thing to do, as long as there was a rum and coke available. JoAnn is survived by five children, Maureen Petruccio, husband John of Yardley, PA, Craig Irvine of Dover, Richard Cavan Irvine, wife Joy of York, Jane Irvine of Venice, FL, William Irvine of Florida.
Also surviving are grandchildren Anthony Petruccio & fiancée Jess, Krista Wheeler & husband Greg, Joann Aldinger & husband Lee, Conor Irvine, Alyssa Irvine & fiancé Ryan Vanston, Cavan Irvine, Rebecca Irvine & partner Steve Moon, Tristan Irvine, Kieran Junge, Shaelynn Junge. There are also great-grandchildren Cameron, Emma, Ireland, Mackenna, Lydia, Myles, with a great-grandson due in January. Further surviving are brother Jack Gotwalt, wife Anne, many nieces, nephews & cousins, along with friend Renee Elliott, and lifelong dear friend Pat Hershner.
The family thanks the staff at Autumn House East, Manor Care North & York Hospital for their kindness & attention to JoAnn in her final months. Also, a sincere thank you to Joy Irvine for the compassion, devotion & love she showed to JoAnn these last three years. Following cremation, a memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 9, 2018 at Eastminster Presbyterian Church, 311 Haines Road, York.
A visitation will be held on Friday from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow the service in Mount Rose Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Eastminster Presbyterian Church Pre-School, 311 Haines Road, York, PA 17402.
