Deacon Melvin Gerald Carter age 75 of York went home to be with the Lord on August 8, 2018 at his residence. He was the husband of Mildred Carter. Melvin and Mildred were married for 40 years.

Deacon Carter was born in York on August 23, 1942, the son of the late Leon and Essie Mae Carter. He had been employed by DND Distribution as a Forklift operator for over 30 years. He was a deacon, usher, missionary and grounds keeper at the Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church.
