Obituary for George D. Puskar George D. Puskar, 76, of Connellsville passed away peacefully Mon. Nov. 12, 2018 in the Laurel Ridge Center, Uniontown.
He was born Dec. 29, 1941 in Star Junction a son of the late George and Helen Hoholick Puskar. George was a Graduate of the former Perry High School with the class of 1959.
He had worked for Polanders in Perryopolis out of High School and went on to work for Beneficial Finance in Connellsville. He then worked for State Farm Insurance where he ran his own Agency, George D. Puskar Insurance Agency in Connellsville for 52 years. George was a very involved citizen of Connellsville.
In addition to being a successful businessman for 52 years, George was honored with various other awards including the Daily Courier Choice Award, the Herald Standard “Person That Makes A Difference, and he was a very active member of the Connellsville Lions Club since 1969. He was the recipient of the Melvin Jones Fellow and Lion of the Year Award, the Ross DeMarco Award, and the Presidential Certificate of Appreciation for his hard work, sacrifice, dedication and service to mankind in the Connellsville Community. He is still the treasurer of the Connellsville Lions Club.
George was involved in many other Lions Club projects such as the building of Lions Square Park, and the summer concerts held there. He also served on the Fall Foliage Committee and the Connellsville Municipal Authority. George also worked with delinquent boys, the Connellsville Leo Club, and the High School concession stand at the Connellsville Falcon Football games.
George was a member of St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church in Perryopolis. George will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by his loving wife of 55 years Janet R. Livingston Puskar, his children Deborah A. Kadar and boyfriend Vince of Dawson, John D. Puskar and wife Denise of Mt. Pleasant, and Michael J. Puskar and girlfriend Megan of Manor, his grandchildren Tyler J. Kadar, Bailey R. Puskar, and Brandon J. Puskar, his brother David Puskar and wife Erika of Dawson, and a special friend Sharon Rendine of Connellsville.
Family and friends will be received Thur. and Fri. from 2-4 and 6-8 PM in the Brooks Funeral Home Inc., 111 E. Green St. Connellsville(724-628-1430) where a Blessing Service will be held Sat.
at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in the Immaculate Conception R.C. Church, Connellsville, With Rev. Robert Lubic as celebrant. A committal service and interment will follow in Green Ridge Memorial Park, Pennsville.
The Connellsville Lions Club will conduct a service Fri. at 7:00 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations be made to the Lions Square Project c/o Larry Kiefer, 125 S. Arch St. Connellsville PA.
