BUFFALO, MN—George Nemec MD, age 89, of Buffalo, MN, formerly of Cambridge, Edgerton, Minocqua, and Boulder Junction, died Thursday, May 24, 2018, at Cottagewood Memory Care, Buffalo, MN. He was born in Cicero, IL on Feb. 13, 1929 the son of George and Elinor (Dinsper) Nemec Sr

He graduated from Morton HS, Cicero in 1947, North Central College in 1950, and the University of Illinois Medical School in 1954. George married the love of his life, Dorothy Anne Cluever on Sept. 12, 1953.

He joined… Read More » the US Army as a Captain and served in West Point, NY and San Antonio, TX as a Family Practice Physician. He practiced medicine briefly in Greenwood, WI, before settling in Cambridge, WI and becoming loved and respected Doctor George. In 1975, George and Dorothy moved to the Northwoods area where he set up practice in Woodruff, WI before retiring to Boulder Junction.

He spent many happy hours on his beloved Dad’s Lake fishing, watching the deer, the loons, and the eagles. George enjoyed being outdoors golfing, skiing, hiking, snowshoeing and “encouraging” his family to help cut firewood. Indoor activities included constructing balsa planes, shooting pool, playing Euchre and studying fine wines while listening to Dixieland music.

He also sang in a barbershop chorus. George was an active member of Grace Lutheran, Ascension Lutheran, and Boulder Junction Community Churches. He is survived by his children: Susan (George) Vellella, Glenn (Caren) Nemec, and Larry (Katz) Nemec; 2 siblings, Dick (Ruth) Nemec and Darlene (Clar) Janacek; 5 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Josephine; wife, Dorothy; and his brother, Ben. A Celebration of Life and Service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 14, 2018, at CENTRAL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 100 W. Rollin St., Edgerton, WI. Rev.

Jerry Pribbenow will preside and a luncheon will immediately follow the service. Visitation will take place on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service at Noon at the church.
