George P. Franzke, Appleton, age 84, was called to his heavenly home on Monday, October 8, 2018 at Carolina Manor while in Hospice Care following a courageous battle of COPD. George (Buzz) was born in Appleton, Wisconsin on January 29, 1934, son of the late George and Aurelia (LeComte/Miller) Franzke. He was a devoted member of St. Matthew Ev.

Lutheran Church and was united in marriage to the late JoAnn (Schabow) on August 11, 1956 at St. Matthew. George was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. George served in the Navy and was an Assistant Supervisor for 35+ years at Miller Electric.

He enjoyed spending time with family, sipping a fine whiskey, going for walks enjoying the scenery and birdwatching, wood carving, and most recently constructing wood puzzles with his sister Aurelia. George is survived by his three children: Greg (Sue) Franzke of Shawano, Rick (Pam) Franzke of Appleton, Lori (Pat) Wagner of Little Chute; six grandchildren Nick (Danielle), Nathan (Amanda), Tina (Patrick) Gitzlaff, Cuyler (Karli), Brittany (Michael) Graunke, and Kim Wagner; five great grandchildren Logan and Myles Franzke, Jackson and Lucas Gitzlaff, and Iver Franzke. He is also survived by one sister Aurelia (Babe) Stampp and two sister in laws Helen Brahm and Marion Merkl.

He is also survived by many nieces and nephews who loved their Uncle Buzz. He was proceeded in death by his parents, stepfather Hugh Miller, two sisters Sharon and Barbara, and many sister and brother in laws, nieces and nephews. Funeral services for George will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October, 12, 2018 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 129 S. Mason Street with Rev.

Jon Kuske officiating. George’s family will receive relatives and friends at the church on Friday from 9:00am until the 11:00 am service. Entombment will be in Highland Memorial Park.

The family would like to extend their thanks and warmest wishes to the staff at Carolina Manor. A special thanks to Jessica and Brooke from Hospice and Theda Care for their loving care. We would also like to thank our many family and friends who visited, sent cards, letters and packages to our dad and supported each of us in your own way.
