George Perry Lowman, age 98, formerly of Keymar died Saturday, September 15, 2018 at Northampton Manor Health Care Center, Frederick. Born September 6, 1920 in Keymar, he was the son of the late Reginald Dennis Lowman and Celia Mae Winemiller Lowman. He was the husband of E. Earlene Lowman who died in 2013.

George was a 1937 graduate of Elmer Wolfe High School, Union Bridge. He was a member of the Middleburg United Methodist Church where he served as lay leader and for many years he was… Read More » the superintendent of the Middleburg Church Cemetery. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, seeing action in France and Germany.

After the service, in 1946, he began working with his father in the Keymar Garage and George continued to operate the business until 2010 when it was sold. He enjoyed building antique model gas engines and in earlier years he had model airplanes and trains. He also enjoyed vegetable gardening.

Surviving are son, Richard G. Lowman and wife Barbara of Herndon, VA; 3 grandsons, Matthew Lowman of Portland, OR, David Lowman of Herndon and Heath Lowman and wife Jeannie of Luray, VA and 2 great grandchildren, Kaylee and Caleb Lowman. He was predeceased by a son, George E. Lowman in 2006, daughter-in-law, Dianne Lowman in 2017 and a brother, Jean Lowman. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 19 at Hartzler Funeral Home, 6 E. Broadway, Union Bridge, with Rev.

Darrell Davis, his pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in Pipe Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until time of service on Wednesday.
