Gerald W. Hill, the husband of Sue Hall Hill, passed away on June 26, 2018, surrounded by his family. Gerry was born in Nebo, Kentucky on March 15, 1934, to David and Alverda Hill. He joined the Air Force after high school and made Lexington his home after graduating from the University of Kentucky.

He was a much-loved history and civics teacher at Lafayette and Tates Creek Junior High Schools before taking a position as Assistant to the Dean of Admissions at the UK College of Dentistry. … Read More » Gerry enjoyed his grandchildren, friends, politics, a day at Keeneland, good conversation, UK sports and gardening. Gerry and Sue were married 45 years and shared a love for each other’s family as their own.

He was a strong-minded person that lived life fully and on his terms. He will be missed and remembered for his engaging conversation, strong opinions, incredible strength during difficult times, and love for Sue and family. Gerry is preceded in death by his brothers, Don, Bob and James Hill, and sister, Mary Lou Hill Whitledge, sister-in-law Janet Hall Clem, brother-in-law Billy Hall, nephew Les Clem, Jr. and nieces Alicia and Jennifier Hall.

He is survived by Sue, his children, David Hill (Phyllis) and Karen Hill Greathouse, and four grandchildren, Tyler Hill (Caitlin), Zach Hill, Trey Hill, and Hillary Greathouse, and brothers and sisters-in-law, Eva Hill Miller, Sonny Hall (Tina), Patrice Hall Thompson (C.B.) and Kathy Hall Blankenship (Chuck) Les Clem, Cindy Hall and many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Burial will be 11:00 AM, Monday, July 2, 2018 at Camp Nelson Cemetery. Celebration of Gerry’s life will follow from 12:30 PM-2:30 PM at Clark Legacy Center, Brannon Crossing.

In lieu of flowers donations to the Hopkins County or Fayette County Humane Society or your favorite charity will be appreciated by the family.
