Obituary for Gerald (Jerry) V. Slivinski Beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away suddenly, Sunday, September 2, 2018. Age 86 years. The son of the late Casimir and Alexandria (Sienko) Slivinski, Jerry was born November 25, 1931 in Saginaw, Michigan.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War where he was awarded two Bronze Battle Stars and was a member of V.F.W. Post #9809. He married Emily Radziewicz on April 16, 1955. She survives him.
Jerry was employed at General Motors for over 27 years until his retirement in 1990. After his retirement, he was employed at Snow Funeral Home. He was a member of St. Dominic Parish, Knights of Columbus Council #4232 and Msgr.
Thomas Horton Assembly. Jerry was also a member of the Pulaski Club. During the holidays, Jerry enjoyed making Kielbasa with his family.
He and Emily enjoyed bowling, going to the casino and loved spending time with their family at Londo Lake. Surviving are three sons, two daughters and their spouses, Jay and Mary Slivinski, Saginaw; Sue and Robert Sweeney, Saginaw; Thomas and Debi Slivinski; Janice and Randy Reinhardt, Merrill; Matthew Slivinski, Bridgeport; grandchildren, Kristen, Brandi and Jeremy King, Nicholas and Heather Reinhardt, Thomas Slivinski, Jessica and Trevor Matelski, Joshua Sweeney, Alex and Natalie Slivinski, Emily Reinhardt, Sarah Slivinski, Jennifer and Bryant Frakes, Aimee Slivinski; six great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Theresa Radziewicz, Saginaw; a brother-in-law, Stan Radziewicz, Saginaw; several nieces and nephews and a special cousin, Dorothy Kita. Jerry was preceded in death by one sister, Delphine Morlick.
Funeral Liturgy will take place 12:00 noon Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at St. Dominic Parish-Ss. Peter & Paul Church, 4735 W. Michigan Ave. in Saginaw.
Rev. Fr. John R. Johnson and Rev.
Fr. Steven Gavit will officiate with Military Honors presented by V.F.W. Post #9809 and V.F.W. Post #1859. Honoring Jerry’s wishes, cremation will follow.
Friends may call at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd. , (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and at Ss. Peter & Paul Church on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until time of Mass.
The Knights of Columbus Council #4232 will pray the Rosary 3:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. A Vigil Service, led by Amy Bartels Roe, will take place 7:00 p.m. Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Michigan Special Olympics, Knights of Columbus Council #4232 or the charity of their choice.
