Obituary for Gerald “Jerry” Winters Sr. Winters, Gerald “Jerry” Sr. Jenison, Michigan formerly of Bridgeport, Michigan Passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at Faith Hospice at Trillium Woods, Byron Twp. , surrounded by his family. Gerald V. Winters was born on May 1, 1935 in Saginaw to the late Vincent and Eleanor (Lee) Winters.
He grew up in Bridgeport and graduated from Saginaw High School in 1954. Jerry worked for Miles Machinery (now, Wright-K) for over 40 years, retiring in 1997. Jerry and Joan retired to Jenison to be close to family and enjoy many of their grandchildren’s activities.
He was a man of all trades, and loved woodworking. Jerry was full of life, compassionate and his gentle spirit will be missed by his wife, Joan (Brady) Winters, whom he married on April 30, 1955. His children: Katharine Cullens and Gerald V. Winters, Jr.; his grandchildren who were the twinkle in his eye, Candace (Andrew) Yeager, Kent Winters, Stacy Winters and Jenny Winters; two sisters, Janice Whelton and Ginny (Douglas) Nagel, and his dear rescued puppy, Rufus.
Jerry was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Lori Lee Winters. FUNERAL: A funeral service for Jerry will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, December 16, 2018 at Cook Memorial Chapel (East), 4235 Prairie St. SW, Grandville, MI 49418. Pastor Jim Pollard will officiate.
Family and friends will gather at the Cook Memorial Chapel (East) on Sunday from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. FUNERAL: A funeral service for Jerry will also be held in Saginaw at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, December 17, 2018 at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State). Family and friends will gather at Deisler Funeral Home on Monday from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. Cremation will follow the funeral service in Saginaw.
Jerry will then be buried at Pinegrove Cemetery in Bridgeport.
