Steubenville, OH. Gerald T. “Tom” DeBee, 84 of New Cumberland passed away at the Valley Hospice Care Center North at Trinity West Hospital in Steubenville on Saturday, January 12, 2019, following a lengthy illness. Born in Newell on August 16, 1934, he was raised there by his parents, William McKinley DeBee and Zelma Fletcher DeBee.

Tom served as a Quarter Master with the US Army during the Korean Conflict. A graduate of the former Wells High School, he retired as an office manager at Airco Gases and earlier had worked for eleven years at Milligan’s Hardware in East Liverpool. Tom was preceded in death by his siblings, Evelyn Enochs, Dorothy DeLong, Eula Carteri, and Edgar and Iris DeBee.

He is survived by one sister, Pauline Mackey of Madison, Mississippi. Since Tom was never married and didn’t have any children, he had several nieces and nephews that were like his own children, Debbie Zebroski, Vicki Hall, Cindy Powell, Randy Mackey, Joey and Jeffrey Cartieri, Stephanie Hernon, Lisa DeLong, and Jodie Towler. Also, several great-nieces and nephews survive as does one very special great-great-nephew.

Private interment will be observed at Locust Hill Cemetery. Tom’s services have been entrusted to the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester.
