Obituary of Gerard Sweeney Gerard William Sweeney, 93, of Elizaville, NY and a former Wantagh & Elmhurst, NY resident, passed away on Sunday, July 8, 2018 at the Livingston Hills Nursing Center in Livingston, NY. Born on September 24, 1924, in Elmhurst, NY, he was the son of the late Eugene Michael and Regina (Blank) Sweeney. Gerard married Arlene Veronica Bradley on October 2, 1948 at St. Bartholomew’s Church in Elmhurst, NY.

Arlene survives at home in Elizaville. For 45 years, he worked as a Field Service Engineer with the Sperry Gyroscope Corp/UNISYS in Lake Success, NY. After which he retired in the home he built, he enjoyed travel, golf, and his family.

In addition to his loving wife of nearly 70 years, Gerard is survived by his children; Kathleen Regina (Alfred) Molinari of Colorado Springs, CO, Christine Ann (Nickolas) Spagnolo of Mineola, NY, Brian James (Theresa) Sweeney of Wantagh, NY, Dennis Paul (Tanya) Sweeney of San Diego, CA, and Michael Patrick (Anne) Sweeney of Levittown, NY; a loving brother, Raymond Eugene (Bobbi) Sweeney of Elizaville, NY; fifteen grandchildren; four great grandchildren; along with numerous extended family and friends Two sons, Eugene Michael Sweeney, and Gerard Edward Sweeney predecease him. Friends may call at the Burnett & White Funeral Homes on Friday, July 13, 2018 from 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, July 14, 2018 at St. Christopher’s Church, Red Hook, NY.
