Obituary of Lydia Shanley Lydia T. Shanley, 74, a longtime Red Hook resident, passed away on Friday, September 21, 2018 at the Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. Born on February 21, 1944, in Great Barrington, MA, she was the daughter of the late Theodore and Frieda (Eichmann) Bucher. Lydia married Martin “Marty” Shanley on April 15, 1967 in Rhinebeck and Marty predeceased her on March 2, 2004 Lydia worked for over 15 years as an Administrative Assistant with the Register Star newspaper- based out of Hudson.

She also worked previously at Dutton Lumber in Poughkeepsie. Lydia also was a former member of the Red Hook Fire Company- Ladies Auxiliary. A loving and caring Mother and grandmother, Lydia is survived by her children, Heather (companion: Richard Brennan) Barber of Livingston, Todd (Marcie) Shanley of Elizaville, and Michael (Shelly Day) Shanley of Elizaville; her sisters, Diana Hobson of Rhinebeck, Deborah Klawson of Red Hook, and Loretta Ickes of Thornton, NH; her grandchildren, Crystal Day Shanley, Zachery Day Shanley, Jacob Day Shanley, Johnathan Lamothe, Bryonna Chapman, Deymian Barber, Todd “Smoochie” Shanley, Jr., and Julian Brennan; a great grandson, Liam Day; along with extended family and friends.

Friends may call at the Burnett & White Funeral Homes on Friday, September 28, 2018 from 5-8 PM. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 29th, 2018 at Burnett & White Funeral Homes, Red Hook, NY. Rev.

Richard Murray will officiate. Burial will be at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, Red Hook. Memorial donations may be made in Lydia’s memory to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718, www.
