Obituary of Gary Killmer Gary E Killmer, Sr., 66, of LaGrange, NY, passed away on Tuesday, September 4th, 2018 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie, NY. Born on September 14th, 1951, in Poughkeepsie, NY, he was the son of the late Earl E. and Julia (Alulis) Killmer. Gary married Christine Jensen on February 13, 1976 in Esopus, NY and she survives at home.

For many years, Gary was a member of Teamsters Union working as a truck driver. Most recently with Tilcon’s Clinton Point Quarry in Poughkeepsie, NY. One of his greatest passions was being “Santa Claus” at the Poughkeepsie Galleria.

A task that he took on with great pride and enthusiasm. Gary was also an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. Gary enjoyed participating in the “Shandaken Primitive Biathlon”.

Gary earned his pilot license and flew Cessna’s during the 1980’s and was a lifelong ham radio operator making numerous contacts with the astronauts onboard the ISS as it flew overhead. For a period of time Gary was also a volunteer EMT for the LaGrange Rescue Squad In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by his children, Gary (Erin) E. Killmer, Jr of LaGrange, NY, and Laura (Jason) Gilbert of Middletown, NY; his loving grandchildren, Abigail Killmer, Jack Killmer, Kylie Gilbert, and Jason Gilbert, Jr; along with extended family, friends, and colleagues. He was predeceased by a brother, Warren Pete Killmer.
