Obituary of Claude Potts Claude William Potts, 93 of Tivoli NY, died on Sunday, December 2, 2018. Born on January 4, 1925 in Hudson NY he was the son of the late Claude Westcott and Jennie (Rivenburgh) Potts. Claude married Margaret (Tubeck) Potts on June 26, 1953 in Tivoli and she predeceased him on September 19, 2008.

A lifelong resident of Tivoli and graduate of Tivoli Union Free School, Claude took great pride in his community often telling stories of its notable residents, events and history. He was a life member of the Tivoli Fire Department – when the fire alarm sounds, he responds. Claude would proudly share that he remembered sitting in his high school classroom, hearing the fire siren go off and then running out the door to assist in fighting the fire.

Even though he was no longer running out the door, he continued to encourage youth to consider joining the department. Throughout his life, he was also a member in the Dutchess County Farm Bureau, Dutchess County Agriculture Extension, Ulster and Columbia County Cornell Cooperative Extensions, Dutchess County Firemen’s Association, Monumental Masonic Lodge in Tivoli, and the Tri-Po-Grotto Masonic Lodge. He also drove bus for many years for the Red Hook Schools and Bard College.

Claude had a good life, along with working his 80-acre family farm, which was established in the mid-1880s; Claude enjoyed working in a variety of professions and interacting with people of all ages. Together, Claude and his wife Margaret raised three daughters. He is survived by his daughters, Margaret (David Baker) Adeigbo, Annamarie Finney, and Claudia (Donald) Stickle; his grandchildren, April (Kevin) Marsh, Joseph (Vanessa) and Christopher Adeigbo, Melissa (William) Stokes and Michael (Kim) Stickle; and his great grandchildren, Avery, Skyler and Payton Marsh, Thomas and Natalie Stokes, Mya, Tyler and Emily Stickle, and Joseph Adeigbo.

In addition to his wife Margaret, his grandson Adam Adeigbo, a cousin Margaret (Smith) Lemon and son-in-law Christopher Finney, all predecease him. A special thank you to Kingston Hospital’s Nurse Amber, Dr. Allan and Dr. Chazkel. Friends may call at the Burnett & White Funeral Homes on Thursday, December 6, 2018 from 4 to 7 pm.

Tivoli Fire Department will hold services at 7 pm, followed by service by the members of Monumental Lodge. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, December 7th, 2018 at Burnett & White Funeral Homes, Red Hook, NY. Rev.

Masud Ibn Syedullah will officiate. Entombment will be at Red Church Cemetery, Tivoli. Memorial donations may be made in Claude’s memory to the Tivoli Fire Company, PO Box 486, Tivoli, NY 12583, or to Shriner’s Hospital For Children, 51 Blossom St., Boston, MA 02114.
