Obituary for Gertrude A. Murphy Gertrude (Trudy) Murphy, 88, passed away on Sunday, June 3, 2018 surrounded by her family. Trudy was born on December 1, 1929 in Utica, the daughter of the late John and Helen (Fitzgerald) Murphy. She was a graduate of UFA and was employed with Westmoreland Malleable Iron prior to retiring.
Trudy was a long time member of CSJ Associates. Surviving are nieces and nephews, Katherine, MaryBeth, Joe (Patty), Bill (Caroline) Poupart and Suzy (Nick) Burns; Bill (Suzu), Tim (Jan) and Michael (Linda) Murphy; Father Douglas Grant, Bob (Mimi), Al (Judi) and Leah Grant and Carla (Randy) Shaw; Gregory (Catherine), Kevin (Lisa) and Ann Cahalan; Mark (Karen), John (Claire), Mary Ellen, Joe (Kristin) and Katherine Murphy. Trudy was also survived by great nieces and nephews, Nick (Amy Dora), Jack and Tess Burns, Kate (Ashton) Miller; Tyler and Gabi Poupart and Max Poupart; Lindsey and Anna Rose Murphy; Tom (Brooke), Nathan (Tomoko) Grant, Shaina (Rene) Alarcon; Alex and Kady Grant; Haley and Ali Shaw; Edward (Susan), Caitlin and Nicholas Cahalan; Luke (Angela ) and Jessica Cahalan; Johnnie, Christopher, Sarah Murphy; Kate and Jack Murphy; Audie Murphy; Declan and Liam Murphy; great great nieces and nephews, Lili and Owen Grant, Mateo and Alejandro Alarcon and Shou Grant.
She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Alfred (Vivian) Grant and sister-in-law, Patricia McNaney. Trudy was predeceased by her siblings and their spouses, Mary Rita (Jim) Poupart, Bill (Joan) Murphy, Katherine Grant, Joe Murphy, Dorothy Murphy, Julia (William) Cahalan, Bernadette (Robert) Cotter and Jack Murphy; and nephews Jack and Jim Poupart and Guy Grant. Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated on Saturday, June 16, at 9:30 a.m. at the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes.
Inurnment will be in St. John’s Cemetery, Newport. In lieu of flowers, remembrances in Trudy’s name may be made to Thea Bowman House or Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc. Envelopes will be available at the Mass. Trudy’s family would like to thank the staff of the Presbyterian Residential Community for the care and compassion shown to her during her stay.
