Gertrude “Toddy” Sprister, age 93, went to her reward on Saturday, January 12, 2019. She was born on December 14, 1925, in Appleton to the late Owen and Appolonia (Fermanich) Hughes. After graduating high school, she was united in marriage to Frank W. Sprister.

The couple have enjoyed 72 years together. Gertrude was a supportive wife, nurturing mother and grandmother, and loyal friend. She enjoyed camping, scouting, golfing, volunteering, walks with friends, and spending time with family.

She was also an active member at St. Therese Catholic Church. She is survived by her husband, Frank; 7 children: Jim, Dave (Cris), Steve (Mary), Lou Rinehart, Kevin (Karen), Lynn Neely (Mike), and Troy (Katie); 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Harold, Cliff, Leo, Tom, and Owen Jr. “Butch”, and her sisters Margaret, Florence, and Lillian.

A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 11 am on Friday, January 18th at St. Therese Catholic Church, 213 E. Wisconsin Ave. Appleton. Friends may visit at the church on Friday from 9 am until 10:45 am.

Interment will take place at Highland Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
