OBITUARY Giovanni Bellassai May 25, 1925 – November 26, 2018 Giovanni Bellassai, 93, of Wethersfield, beloved husband for 50 years of Salvatrice “Lidia” (Forte) Bellassai, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 26, 2018. Born on May 25, 1925 in Giarratana, province of Siracusa, Sicily, he was the son of the late Salvatore and Maria (Pititto) Bellassai. He served in the Italian Army before immigrating to America.

Before his retirement, Giovanni worked for many years as a machinist at Industrial Surplus in Berlin. He was also a member of the Italian American Stars. Giovanni will be forever missed by his devoted wife Lidia; his brother, Mario Bellassai and wife Anna of Rocky Hill; two sisters-in-law, Erminia Sorrentino and husband Antonino of Wethersfield and Nuccia Valenti of Palermo, Italy, as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

He was predeceased by his brother and sister-in-law, Antonio and Concetta Bellassai and his brother-in-law, Gaetano Valenti. The family wishes to thank the wonderful doctors and staff at Hartford Hospital for their care and compassion. Funeral services will begin on Saturday (December 1) at 9 a.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd.

, Wethersfield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Christ the King Parish (Corpus Christi Church), 601 Silas Deane Hwy. , Wethersfield. Entombment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford.
