Glen’s Obituary Glen Evans Mitchell, 89, of Mexico, went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 11, 2019 at the Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans’ Hospital in Columbia. Visitation is Thursday evening January 17, from 5-7 p.m. at Kentucky Road Christian Church. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, January 18, at Kentucky Road Christian Church with Joel Mitchell officiating.

Graveside Services will be at 3 p.m. on Friday at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville. Glen was born on January 30, 1929 in Fairfax, Missouri, the son of Dennis G. and Frances R. (Russell) Mitchell. On June 7, 1959 in Rock Port, Missouri, he married Harriett L. Barrett.

Mr. Mitchell graduated from Fairfax High School and then the University of Missouri. After becoming a Christian in 1958 and wanting to learn more about scriptures, he began attending Central Christian College of the Bible in Moberly. While there, Glen began preaching and then graduated in 1964.

He helped start new churches and enjoyed assisting with many church camps. His calling as a preacher included churches in Missouri, Iowa, Wyoming and Florida, until retiring in 2008. Survivors include his wife, Harriett Mitchell of the home; five children, Dennis Mitchell of Centralia, Paul (Carrie) Mitchell of Centralia, Mary (Delwyn) Duncan of Centralia, Sarah (Bob) Phipps of Mexico, and Joel (Tanya) Mitchell of Union Star, Missouri; 16 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; his mother-in-law, Vernal Lawnick of Maryville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Glen was preceded in death by his parents, Dennis and Frances Mitchell; and four siblings, Violette Harrington, Merrill Mitchell, Hilda Hester and Raymond Mitchell. Memorial donations may be made to the Central Christian College of the Bible or Kentucky Road Christian Church. They may be sent in care of Arnold Funeral Home, 425 S. Jefferson, Mexico, MO 65265.
