Glenola Marie (Irey) Thomas, age 86, of Jacksonville, Florida, went to be with her Lord on November 15th 2018. Marie was born on July 26, 1932 in Salina, Kansas. She was fortunate to live in many areas throughout the United States, before settling in Florida.

Marie was outspoken and feisty and enjoyed a good sense of humor. She loved dancing, gardening and canning, cooking and baking with family and friends – particularly during the holidays, and she enjoyed traveling when possible. Her relationship with God was very important to Marie and she always looked her best wearing her Estee Lauder Beautiful perfume each week to church.

She worked professionally within a bakery for many years before retiring surrounded by family. Marie will be greatly missed by those closest to her, but her lively spirit will never leave us. Marie was preceded in death by her son Raymond H. Thomas Jr. in September of 2015.

She is survived by a brother Johnny C. (Theresa) Nobles; her children Richard W. Thomas and Tammy Garrard; seven grandchildren Christine (Jorge) Colgan, Richard W. Thomas II, Cheryl (Patrick) Garrett, Jaime (Doug) Schott, Lisa (Harold) Rutherford, Josh Thomas and Jeremy Thomas; and eleven great grandchildren Austin Garrett, Trevor Thomas, Lexi Rutherford, Margaret Colgan, Gabriel Thomas, Emily Thomas, Charles Schott, Star Thomas, Raygen Rutherford, Daniel Schott, and Seth Thomas; along with many extended family members and friends. A memorial service will be at 2:00pm, Friday, November 30, 2018 in the Jacksonville Memory Gardens Chapel. The family will receive friends from 1:00pm until service time.
