He was the son of the late Gregory Cummings Sr. and Edna Catherine Obie. He was married to Tamika Compton Cummings of the home.

He loved sports, especially football. He also loved to eat and enjoyed listening to old school music (classics as he called them). He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife: Tamika Compton Cummings of the home; his daughter: Jessica Cummings of Greensboro; sisters: Wendy Cummings of Atlanta, GA and Breta Cummings of Georgia; step children: Moriah Linton, Joshua Linton, Carissa Vaughn and Nathaniel Miles all of Burlington; mother in law: Edith Nichols and father in law: Lee Tate Sr. and a host of relatives, family and friends.
