Obituary for Gwenna Mae Meyer Services for Gwenna Meyer, 69, wife of Ron Meyer, will be Wednesday, June 20th, at 11:00 a.m. at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Chariton. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Gwenna Mae Demichelis was born December 8, 1948 to James and Reva (Hogue) Demichelis in Chariton, Iowa.

She graduated from Chariton High School. In her first marriage, a daughter, Lori Ann Oswalt was born. Gwenna attended Ottumwa Beauty College in 1975 to obtain her Cosmetology degree.

After receiving her degree, she worked as a licensed hair-stylist for four years. In 1978, Gwenna married Roland “Swede” Meyer. In addition to gaining a loving husband, Gwenna was blessed with the love of Ron’s two children, Donna and Roland C. Meyer.

The family moved to Longview, Washington in 1979 where Ron started his own contracting business and Gwenna started a career in the banking industry. She started as a teller and retired as Assistant Vice President of Operations. Gwenna was a devoted mother, wife, aunt and friend.

Others always came first, including strangers in need. Gwenna was a member of Beta Sigma Phi, Soroptimist, and the Longview Area Chamber of Commerce. She enjoyed watching birds, being near the ocean, and she loved flowers.

She also enjoyed going out for sushi. Gwenna taught Sunday School for seventeen years and attended church regularly until her health failed. During her many trials and tribulations, she knew her Lord was at her side.

Ron was also always at her side and cared lovingly for her. Gwenna Meyer passed away June 17, 2018 at the age of 69. She was preceded in death by her little angel, Lori Ann; son, Roland C. Meyer; sister, Hattie Orwig; and parents, Jim and Reva Demichelis.

Gwenna is survived by her husband, Ron Meyer; brothers, Jim Demichelis and Curt Demichelis; daughter, Donna (Ron) Fennema; grandson, Brian Fennema; great grandson, Luke; and numerous nieces and nephews who brought her great joy when calling her Aunt Gwenna. . Hebrews 10:24 Let us think about each other and help each other to show love and do good deeds.
