Harley Douglas Allen, age 74, of Erwin, passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2019, at his home, surrounded by his family. A native of Erwin, Doug is a son of the late Harley Isaac and Louise (Ambrose) Allen. He was a Brakeman/Conductor for Clinchfield Railroad for 33 years and a lifelong member of Fishery Community Church, where he served as a Trustee.

Doug enjoyed car shows, hot rods, antiques and Blue Ridge Pottery. He was an avid landscaper and loved his flowers. In addition to his parents, Doug is preceded in death by his wife, Dixie Kay Allen; brother, Fred Allen; and brother-in-law, Jerry Welch.

Harley Douglas Allen leaves behind to cherish his memory: Daughter: Nancy Allen McGee and husband, Eric, of Jonesborough and their son, Isaac, who lovingly called him “Bat”; Sons: Michael Allen and wife, Laura, and nephew Thomas Frazier, of Erwin, Brian Allen and fiancé, Chana Kirby, and her children, Tyler and Peyton, of Erwin; Sister: Linda Allen Welch; Brother: Gary “Butch” Allen and wife, Jenny; Numerous nieces and nephews. Per Doug’s wishes, a private committal service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to: Fishery Community Church, 501 Fishery Community Church Road, Erwin, TN 37650.
