Mr. Harold O. Burleson, age 77, of the Woodlawn Community, went home to be with the Lord and join his loving wife on the morning of Friday, June 15, 2018 at his residence with his family by his side. The son of the late Odell and Lora Goforth Burleson, Harold was born in Avery County, North Carolina on June 26, 1940, however, his “born again” date was September 22, 1952. In fact, his greatest desire was for his family and friends to meet him in Heaven.

Harold had Pastored at Hefner Memorial Baptist Church in Marion and at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Pleasant Gardens. Known to have “piddled” on about anything, Harold truly loved spending time with his family.

He was veteran of the United States Army and a member of Hicks Chapel Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Margaret Singleton Burleson, who he loved unconditionally. Left to cherish his memories are two sons, Dennis Burleson (Linda) of Nebo and Dale Burleson of Statesville; one daughter, Nina Hollifield (Mark) of Marion; two brothers, Richard Burleson and Mike Burleson; one sister, Pam Wiseman; and three sisters-in-law, Virginia Burleson, Phyllis Pitman and Rachel Freeman.

Harold is also survived by six grandchildren, Erin and Jeff Buchanan of Simpsonville, South Carolina, Jeremy, Easton and Westley Burleson, all of Taylorsville, Chris and Shana Hollifield of Marion, Felicia Hollifield of Marion; along with many others who he considered in his heart as grandchildren. A celebration of Harold’s life will be held on Sunday, June 17, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. at Hicks Chapel Baptist Church in Marion with Rev. Chad Wise, Rev.

Mark Hollifield and Rev. Allen Laws officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:30 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the church.

A private interment, with military honors provided by the United States Army, will be held at Hicks Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a memorial donation in his memory are asked to consider, Hicks Chapel Baptist Church’s Children Playground Fund, P.O. Box 464, Marion, North Carolina 28752.
