Harold V. McGuire, 93, of Cabot passed away Saturday, November 17th, 2018 peacefully, at his home. Harold was born in Sarver on July 5, 1925, a son of the late Genevieve (Geibel) and Thomas V. McGuire. He was the widower of Virginia May (Cramer) McGuire, who passed in 2015.

Harold was a Sergeant in the US Army Air Corps during WW II. After the war, Harold took an accounting position with Schenley Distillery in Schenley, PA. He worked there until the plant’s closing in the early 80″s He was a member of St. Mary, Mother of God Church in Freeport.

Harold was a member of the Freeport Sportsmans Club, various bowling leagues through out the years, was a past Boy Scout leader, taught rifle training, raised gaming birds for the PA Game Commission and was a bee keeper. He was and avid hunter, fisherman and trapper. Harold and his wife enjoyed travel to Florida, Myrtle Beach and to their camp.

Harold loved watching his grandchildren playing sports and was an avid Steelers, Pirates and Penguins fan. Harold is survived by his son, John R. McGuire, of Tampa, FL. 2 daughters, Linda A. McGuire, of Weirton, WV and Marge J. Christy, of Saxonburg.

His grandchildren, Michelle Russell, Pam & Brad Rowan & Tom M. Christy. His great grandchildren, Connor Russell, Kyanne, Sage, Passion & Hannah Rowan and Wyatt Blackburn. He is alos survived by his brother, Thomas & Margie McGuire of Warren, OH and his son in law, Tom L. Christy of South Buffalo Twp.

He is preceded by his brothers, Regis & Richard McGuire and sisters, Rose McGuire & Marilyn Wranich Family and friends will be received Tuesday, November 20, 2018 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm in Redmond Funeral Home Inc. 524 High St. in Freeport. A parting prayer service will be held in the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary, Mother of God Church in Freeport 10:00 am on Wednesday, November 21st. with Father Ronald Maquinana officiating.

Burial will be held in Sarverville Cemetery in Sarver, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to; St. Mary’s Mother of God Church 608 High St. Freeport, PA 16229 and/or Concordia Lutheran Ministries Foundation 134 Marwood Rd.
