Haywood Williams, Sr. was born on August 7, 1947, in New Orleans, Louisiana. He transitioned to eternity with his Lord on March 23, 2019, in Plano, Texas, at age 71. Haywood graduated from South Down High School in Houma, Louisiana.

He went on to attend Nicholls State University where his focus was General Studies and Business Administration. Haywood was most proud of his service to his country, as he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served during the Vietnam War. Upon being honorably discharged, he pursued a career in welding.

Haywood was a member of New Mount Zion Baptist Church. There, he participated in the men’s Sunday School class and various men’s ministry activities. He was predeceased by his parents, Alton Williams and Ollie Jones; siblings: Elvin Williams, Hayes Williams, Nathan Williams, James Williams, Ronnie Williams, Alton Williams, Jr., Willie Mae Stemley, Daisy Wallace, and Alta Mae Stewart; grandchildren, Leah Williams and Jazmine Williams; and special friend and soulmate, Rosa Banks.

Those left to cherish precious memories include his son, Haywood Williams, Jr. (Ericka); daughter, Danielle DeCuir (Charles); daughter, Sharane Nelson (Ola); grandchildren: Alanah Williams, Alethia Williams, Elijah DeCuir, Jeshua Williams, Kimberly DeCuir, Alorah Williams, and K’Sciyah Nelson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
