Helen D. Lonardo (Perrotti), 82, of North Providence, passed away Sunday, May 20, 2018 at Miriam Hospital in Providence. She was the beloved wife of the late William Lonardo, and the mother of the late William P. Lonardo. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Louise (Laquaglia) Perrotti.

For many years Helen was an owner of Orthopedic Appliance & Brace Center, a business that was started in 1959 by her late husband, Willam Lonardo, who ran the company until his untimely passing in 1976. She worked hard to keep the doors of this family business open in order to provide for her four young children, who meant everything in the world to her. Helen made untold sacrifices and devoted her life to her family as it grew, spoiling her grandchildren the way she would have done to her own children if she could have.

Her life was not easy, but her strength and will kept her family close through all the difficult times. Sunday dinner at her house was a tradition. Second only to her family was the love and compassion she had for animals, especially cats, always having at least one, often many more, living with her.

Helen was the product of a bygone generation, one of the last of her kind, possessing the strength to stand up for yourself and heart to stoop down to help a loved one or an animal in need. She is survived by her loving children, Richard P. Lonardo and his wife Cheryl, Dana M. Loffredo and her husband Joe, and Paul A. Lonardo and his wife Janice; a daughter-in-law, Maria Lonardo; her brothers, Anthony “Chuck” Perrotti and Frank Perrotti; a sister, Catherine Perrotti, and six grandchildren, Alyssa Loffredo, Richard Lonardo, Jr., Nicole Lonardo, Samantha Loffredo, William Lonardo and Jake Lonardo. Her funeral will be held Thursday, May 24, 2018 at 8 a.m. from the Maceroni Funeral Home, 1381 Smith St., North Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. at St. Anthony Church, 1413 Mineral Spring Ave, North Providence.

Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visiting hours Wednesday 4-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Helen’s memory may be made to the RISPCA, 186 Amaral St., Riverside, RI 02915.
