Helen’s Obituary Helen D. Samuel, born July 18, 1926, passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 24, 2019. She was the daughter of Walter and Violet Borsum and was married to Harold W. Samuel on September 20, 1945. Helen was a lifelong resident of Reed City and an active lifelong member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church.

Her family was her true love in her life and she greatly enjoyed the large family gatherings. She was an avid sports fan; particularly enjoying watching the University of Michigan sports teams and the Detroit Tigers. She golfed for many years and also enjoyed watching her grandchildren’s sporting events.

Helen was employed with the Reed City Norman Elementary School where she enjoyed helping the many children over the years. She became very fond of English Springer Spaniels; Penny, Maggie and Recently Abby all enriched her life with their great affection for her. She is survived by her son Thomas (Sherry) and grandchildren Rhonda Chenoweth, Brian (Julie) Samuel, Kristie (Tony) Karns and Paul Willison; daughter Cynthia, special friend David Shepherd, granddaughter Rebecca (Cameron) Allen.

She is also survived by her sister Beverly Williams. She was preceded in death by her sister Eleanor and Harold her loving husband of 56 years. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Reed City.

Visitation with the family will be from 5:00-8:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the church.
