Helen G. Loew, 87, of Cabot, formerly of Medina, OH, passed away Wednesday, April 11, 2018 in Good Samaritan Hospice, Cabot, PA. Born June 24, 1930 in Riggsville, Michigan, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Louise (Robiadek) Socolovitch. Helen lived most of her life in Medina, Ohio, and was a 1948 graduate of Pelleston High School.

She was primarily a homemaker and also worked as a cook for the Medina County Achievement Center for 10 years. Helen was a former member of… Read More » Holy Martyrs Catholic Church and the Women’s Guild in Medina. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, canning, and bingo.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James R. Loew- December 27, 2017; sisters, Virginia Tryban, Dorothy Lee, Martha Wilson, Gertrude Doyle; brothers, Florian and Edward Socolovitch. Helen is survived by her son, Father James H. Loew, O.S.B. of Vandergrift; sisters, Margie Surabian of Beverly Hills, MI; Barbara Kanyo of Almont, MI; Ann Albers of Parma, OH and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received from 10-11 A.M. Monday, April 16, 2018 in the St. Gertrude Roman Catholic Church, 303 Franklin Ave.

Vandergrift where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. with Archabbot Douglas R. Nowicki, O.S.B. as celebrant and homilist in the presence of Most Reverend Edward C. Malesic, J.C.L. Bishop of Greensburg providing the final commendation. Private entombment in Mary Mother of Mercy Mausoleum at St. Vincent Cemetery, Latrobe, PA. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Helen’s memory to the St. Gertrude St. Vincent de Paul Society 303 Franklin Ave.
