Jean B. Knappenberger, 90, of Cabot, formerly of North Apollo, passed away Tuesday, June 26, 2018 in Good Samaritan Hospice, Cabot. Born June 14, 1928 in New Kensington, she was the daughter of the late H. Lloyd and Myrtle (Johnston) Black. She was a 1946 graduate of Vandergrift High School.

Jean lived in North Apollo most of her life, where she was a Tax Collector for 27 years and retired in the year 2000. Jean was well-known for hosting card clubs at her home.

But she most loved spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her, 1st Husband, Edward A. Watterson in 1972; brothers, Donald Black, who passed away in 1999 and Paul L. Black, who passed away in 2013. Jean is survived by her husband, Allen J. Knappenberger of Cabot; children, Todd (Valorie) Watterson of Kiski Township; Carol R. (Jeffrey) Boarts of Kittanning; Barbara Ellis of Dade City, FL; Sue Ann (Dr. Gregory) Waser of Melbourne, FL; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; step-daughters, Lucinda (Harold) Gibson of Knoxville, TN; Susan Appleton of Jasper, GA; and three step-granddaughters.

A Memorial Service will be held at Concordia Lutheran Ministries, Cabot, at the convenience of the family. Private interment in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell, PA. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made in Jean’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association of Western PA, 1100 Liberty Ave.
