Rebecca Lee (Deibler) Frayer, 75, of Apollo, beloved mother, sister, and grandmother, passed away on Tuesday, June 5, 2018, at UPMC Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh. Born July 22, 1942, in Oil City, she was the daughter of the late Raymond Deibler and Mary (Bruce) Dickie. Rebecca (Becky) lived in the Apollo area most of her life, with a brief stint in Pittsburgh shortly after graduating from Washington Township High School in 1960.

That same year, she was offered a position as a business teacher at Kiski Area High School, where she taught typing, shorthand, and computer skills for 36 years before retiring in 2011. In her retirement, Becky enjoyed her volunteer work with her friends at Saint Vincent de Paul in Apollo Plaza.

Becky was an avid movie buff with an encyclopedic knowledge of Hollywood stars and films from the 1930s to today. She had a lifelong love of reading and was an expert gardener who worked tirelessly to beautify her historic brick home in Apollo, where she lived for more than 40 years. She also loved walking on the Roaring Run Trail, listening to Johnny Cash and the Rolling Stones, and especially being with her family.

Rebecca was preceded in death by her first husband, Harold J. Contie, in 1975, and by her second husband, Paul E. Frayer, Jr., in 2002. She is survived by her daughters, Victoria L. Contie (Richard Ellsberry) of Ellicott City, MD, and Cynthia L. Contie of Vandergrift; one granddaughter, Natalie Ann Cunningham of Pittsburgh; a sister, Catherine Hubbard of Washington Township; a brother, Bruce “Butch” (Jodee) Deibler of Oklahoma Borough; an aunt Carol Segina of Mt Vision, NY; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received on Saturday, June 30, 2018, from 11am until 1pm at the Curran-Shaffer Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 100 Owens View Avenue, Apollo.

At 1pm, a memorial service will be officiated by Reverend Lea Austin, followed by burial at Apollo’s Riverview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Rebecca’s memory may be made to the Apollo Area Memorial Library, 219 N. Pennsylvania Ave, Apollo, PA 15613, or to the Roaring Run Watershed Association, PO Box 333, Apollo, PA 15613.
