Doyle L. Shellhammer, 89, of Kiski Township, passed away on Monday, July 30, 2018 at home surrounded by his loving family. Born October 29, 1928 in North Vandergrift, he was a son of the late Earl and Alice (Flickinger) Shellhammer. Doyle was a 1948 graduate of Vandergrift High School, and proudly served our country in the United States Army during the Korean War.

He was employed for more than 40 years with Allegheny Ludlum Steel Corporation in maintenance, retiring in 1991. Doyle… Read More » enjoyed working on cars and tinkering. In addition to his parents, Doyle was preceded in death by his wife, Miriam (Dawkins) Shellhammer, who passed away in 2005.

He is survived by his children, Cheryl A. Shellhammer of Strattanville, PA, Patti L. (Alan) Lucjak of Vandergrift, James D. Shellhammer of Vandergrift; granddaughter, Kimberly Lucjak of Vandergrift; and his brother, Don Shellhammer of Vandergrift. Family will receive friends on Thursday, August 2, 2018 from 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 p.m. in the Curran-Shaffer Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 100 Owens View Avenue, Apollo. Funeral Services will take place on Friday, August 3, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Lora Kline officiating.

Following the services, military honors will be accorded by the Armstrong County American Legion Honor Guard. Private interment in Fairview Cemetery, Spring Church.
