Robert J. “Rob” Crooks, 65 of Washington Township passed away on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 in Family Hospice and Palliative Care, Pittsburgh. Born on September 24, 1952 in Natrona Heights he was a son of the late Robert G. Crooks and Madora L (Lucas) Crooks of Washington Township. Rob graduated from Kiski Area High School in 1970 and was a 1974 graduate of Duquesne University where he earned his degree in elementary education.

Retiring in 2013, Robert had been employed by the Operating Engineer Union Local #66 as an operating engineer. He enjoyed fishing and loved spending time with his family and his beloved Jack Russell Terrier, Maggie.

Rob was preceded in death by his father . In addition to his mother, he is survived by his daughter, Kelly (Dan) Walker of New Kensington; son, Matthew Crooks of Washington Township; grandchildren, Brody and Haley Walker of New Kensington; sisters, Christine (Richard) Parlett and Sally Crooks both of Washington Township; brother Paul (Diane) Crooks of New Kensington and several nieces, nephews and cousins. At Rob’s request all services will be private and have been entrusted to the Curran-Shaffer Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 100 Owens View Avenue, Apollo, PA.

Memorial contributions may be made in Rob’s name to the Orphans of the Storm , P O Box 838, Kittanning, PA 16201.
