William C. “Bill” Peace, Sr., 93, of North Apollo, passed away on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 in QLS- West Haven Manor, Washington Township. Born April 14, 1925 in Kiski Township, he was a son of the late William & Violet (Morrow) Peace. Bill lived in the North Apollo area all of his life, and proudly served our country with the United States Army during World War II.

He worked as a coal miner for Altmire Brothers & Canterbury Coal Mines for many years, retiring in 1974. … Read More » Bill was a member of St. James Roman Catholic Church, Apollo, and life member of the American Legion post #114 in Vandergrift. He enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, and going to his camp in Brookville.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his loving wife, Margaret (Zemba) Peace, who passed away on July 2, 2013; granddaughters, Lisa & Laura Coulter; son-in-law, John L. Coulter, Jr.; and his brothers, John, Robert, Ronald, and George Peace. Bill is survived by his children, Phyllis G. Coulter of Allegheny Township, Marjorie L. (David) Bash of Oklahoma Borough, William C. (Pam) Peace, Jr. of Kiski Township; grandchildren, Lynnann (William) Hald of Allegheny Township, John L. (Amanda) Coulter, III, of West Leechburg, William C. Peace, III of Kiski Township; great grandsons, Derek R. Hald & Zachary D. Hald of Allegheny Township, Wyatt J. Coulter of West Leechburg; brothers, Samuel Peace of Yatesboro, PA, Louis Peace of Kiski Township, Harold (Mary Ann) Peace of North Apollo; sister, Margaret (Peace) McKean of Kiski Township; and many nieces and nephews. Friends will be received on Friday, July 20, 2018 from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Curran-Shaffer Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 100 Owens View Ave.

, Apollo. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in St. James Roman Catholic Church, Apollo, with Father John Euker as celebrant. EVERYONE PLEASE MEET AT THE CHURCH.

Entombment in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell, where military honors will be accorded by the Vandergrift Veterans Honor Guard. Memorial Contributions may be made in Bill’s memory to the Disabled American Veterans, 1000 Liberty Ave. , Suite #1606, Pittsburgh, PA 15222 or to St. James Roman Catholic Church, 109 Owens View Ave.
