Sylvia Jane Montali, 81, of Vandergrift, passed away on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at QLS- West Haven Manor, Washington Township. Born January 30, 1937 in New Kensington, she was a daughter of the late Anthony & Gertrude (DePalma) Amaranto. Sylvia was a 1954 graduate of Vandergrift High School, and completed courses at Robert Morris Secretarial School.

She started her career as a secretary at Koppers in Pittsburgh, and went on to work at U.S. Steel in Vandergrift, where she met… Read More » her husband Andy. They were married on April 12, 1958, and had three children over the next five years. Sylvia finished her career as a supervisor at the Pennsylvania Department of Welfare.

She was an avid reader, and enjoyed working on crossword puzzles, going on family vacations, and organizing lunches, dinners, and breakfasts with friends. Sylvia not only took care of her immediate family, but took on the responsibility of caring for several aunts and uncles in their later years. She will be remembered as a loving and caring person, devoted wife, mother, and friend, always thinking of others first.

“To know her, was to love her”. Sylvia is survived by her loving husband of sixty years, Andrew Montali; and her children, David (Cathy) Montali & family of Charleston, WV, Michael (Kelli) Montali & family of Pelham, AL, and Andrea Montali of Germantown, MD. Friends will be received in the Brady-Curran Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 429 Franklin Ave.

, Vandergrift, on Friday, June 8, 2018 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. until the blessing service at 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home with Father James Loew, O.S.B. officiating.
