Chad Alan McCutcheon, 36, of Washington Township, passed away on Monday, June 4, 2018 in UPMC- Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh, surrounded by his loving family. Born October 9, 1981 in Pittsburgh, he was a son of Calvin S. & Julia (LaPlace) McCutcheon of Allegheny Township. Chad lived in Washington Township for the last 6 years, and was a 2000 graduate of The Kiski School, 2004 graduate of Penn State University, and obtained his Master’s in Communications from American University.

… Read More » He worked for McCutcheon Enterprises, Inc. as their Communications Professional. Chad’s service to the community was unparalleled. His many memberships include Poke Run Presbyterian Church, where he also served as an elder; an Eagle Scout of Troop 552; member of the board of visitors at The Kiski School; board member at the Armstrong Center for Community Learning; board member for the local operating committee at the United Way of Southwestern Pennsylvania; chairman of the board at Leadership Alle-Kiski Valley; member of the Moraine Trails Council; former member of the board of directors of the Alle-Kiski Strongland Chamber; Master Mason of the Kiskiminetas Lodge, the A.A.S.R.

, & the Syria Shrine of Pittsburgh; formerly Westmoreland County Captain for Tom Smith for U.S. Senate; former Congressional Intern for the U.S. House of Representatives; former field representative for Senator Don White; and former office manager for Swann for Governor. He loved dirt car racing, was a member of Team 83 Brian Swartzlander Racing, and enjoyed watching NASCAR. He most loved spending time with his family, including his two nephews and his niece, who were the light of his life.

Chad was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Jean & Inez (McInerney) LaPlace; paternal grandparents, Olen & Thelma (Shupe) McCutcheon; and his uncles, Jean & Timothy LaPlace. In addition to his parents Calvin & Julia, Chad is survived by his brother, Nathan A. (Aubrey) McCutcheon of Allegheny Township; nephews & niece, JR, Preston, & Adeline; aunts, Valerie E. (Frank) Hansen of Washington Township, Sally A. Jankosky of Murrysville; aunt & godparents, Marjorie B. (Robert) Carter of Allegheny Township; uncle, Theodore S. “Ted” (Tiffany) McCutcheon of Kiski Township; aunts, Lucy (Dr. Russell) Christorforetti of McMurray, Mary (Regis) Lukacs of Delmont; uncle, Aldrick LaPlace of Pittsburgh; and numerous cousins. Friends will be received on Saturday, June 9, 2018 from 6 to 9 p.m., and Sunday, June 10, 2018 from 1-4 & 6-9 p.m. in the Curran-Shaffer Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 100 Owens View Ave.

, Apollo. A Masonic Service will be held on Sunday at 6:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 11, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in Poke Run Presbyterian Church, 1091 Poke Run Church Road, Apollo, with Pastor Peter Goetschius officiating.
