Obituary for Helen Kennedy Helen Ramsey Kennedy, age 85, of Springfield, went to her eternal home on Saturday, December 15, 2018 surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 21, 2018 at 1pm in the chapel of the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield with Brother Martin Babb and Brother Billy Vogle officiating. Burial will follow in the Bellwood Cemetery with Randy Ellis, Shane Adams, Mike Ramsey, Mark Ramsey, Brian Schmidt, Marty Schmidt and Larry Ramsey serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, December 20, 2018 from 4-8pm and again on Friday from 11am until the hour of service at 1pm. Mrs. Kennedy was born September 18, 1933 in Adairville, KY to the late Hobert and Ethel Pearson Ramsey. She was a member of Springfield Baptist Church, retired telephone operator at AT&T and was the owner of the “Nice Twice” consignment shop in Springfield.
Mrs. Kennedy was an avid supporter of the Springfield High School Baseball Boosters where she was affectionately known as “Granny”. In addition to her parents Mrs. Kennedy is preceded in death by her husband, William Dorris Kennedy, brothers, Hobert Ramsey, Jr. and Charles Ramsey, her sister, Frances Schmidt and her son-in-law, James McCoin. She is survived by her daughters, Pam Reid of Springfield and Angela McCoin of Clarksville; step-son, Ronnie (Diane) Kennedy of Springfield; sisters, Shirley Adams of Greenbrier and Nancy Brown of Springfield; grandchildren, Cliff (Misty) Reid, II and James McCoin, II; step-grandchild, Tiffany Kennedy; and great-grandchildren, Hunter, Cody and Dale Reid.
