Helen Papadakis Beecher October 03, 1924 – May 05, 2019 Share this obituary Send Sympathy Gifts Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card Helen Beecher of Ashland, WI, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2019 in Federal Way, WA. Helen was born Oct. 3, 1924 in Ashland, WI to Emanuel (Mike) and Chrysanthe Papadakis.

She graduated from Ashland High School in 1942. On June 21, 1945 she married Les Beecher of Ashland. After WWII service, Helen & Les raised five daughters.

In her younger years Helen belonged to Bridge and Smear clubs, was an active member of the H & M Dance Club, and she and Les were an important part of the Elk’s Club Shortstops. Helen spent many hours around the game table at the Beecher home. She was always playing a puzzle or game, be it cribbage, backgammon, Scrabble, gin rummy or canasta.

Helen was an avid reader and liked a challenging crossword puzzle. She was an excellent seamstress, enjoyed quilting and always had a great time at Packers’ games. Helen enjoyed entertaining, often serving a delicious meal to family and friends, followed by music and dancing in the living room.

Everyone who knew Helen, knew she was forever 29 years young. She is survived by her daughters Krisann (Peter) Firth of Federal Way, WA; Kathryn (Jim) Bragdon of Springtown, TX; Georganne Beecher of Ashland, WI; Mary Helen Kmiotek of Houston, TX; son-in-law Raymond Gregor of Ashland, WI; grandchildren Jovanna Firth (Rich) Clarke, Terry Firth (Eric) Shaw, Daniel Firth, Jimmie Bragdon, Andrea Bragdon (Ken) Reinertson, Joseph Beecher, Raymond Gregor, Jr., Michael (Jennifer) Gregor, Anthony (Jessie) Gregor, Michael Kmiotek, 16 great-grandchildren, a sister-in-law Isabel Long, nieces, nephews and cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Les, daughter Jovanna (Ray) Gregor, a son-in-law Jim Bragdon, three sisters (Bertha Woods, Mary Clubine, Jovanna Papadakis), a brother George Papadakis, sisters- and brothers-in-law Colleen Papadakis, Jack Woods, Walter Clubine, Lois Beecher, Ed Beecher, Edith Beecher Schneeberger, Ed Schneeberger, and Merlin Long.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday May 31, 2019 at Roberts Funeral Home in Ashland with Father Timothy Sas officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Ashland.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the American Cancer Society, the American Diabetes Association or to the charity of your choice. Arrangements are by Roberts Funeral Home of Ashland.
