Obituary of Howard Burton Yager II Howard Burton Yager II, 74, of Esville, our kind, compassionate, loving, and caring husband, father, grandpa, brother, uncle, and friend was born into eternal life on the afternoon of Monday, October 1, 2018 at his home. Howard was born in Saginaw on March 12, 1944, the son of the late Howard and Evelyn (Eberle) Yager. He was a 1962 graduate of Saginaw’s Arthur Hill High School and went on to enlist in the U.S. Army on September 7, 1962, serving honorably until September 3, 1965.
While at Rog’s Bar in Saginaw and through mutual friends, Howard happened to meet the former Jeannan “Jeannie” Kukla. They dated, fell in love, and were united in marriage on October 6, 1972. Howard worked for Saginaw Steering Gear (Plant 2) from 1967 until 1997 and was a member of U.A.W. Local 699.
He was a faithful parishioner of St. Jude Thaddeus Parish (St. John the Evangelist Church), and shared a special devotion to the Blessed Mother. Howard enjoyed crossword and jigsaw puzzles, playing games on the computer, watching the Detroit Lions, and his favorite – following U of M Football. Howard leaves to cherish his memory, his devoted wife of 46 years, Jeannie; children, James (Beverly) Yager, Shari (Mo) Chinevere, and Teri Sue (Doug) Doud, and his son-in-law, Dale Thomas.
He was the most wonderful grandpa of Taylor Thomas, Paige Thomas, Celeste Yager, Cassandra Yager, Sarah Chinevere, Ryan Chinevere, Josh Doud, Krista Doud, and is also survived by many great-grandchildren; siblings, Carl (Carolyn) Yager, Ron (Sherri) Yager, Debbie (Mel) Steward; special aunt, Terri Gibelyou along with many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Howard was welcomed home to heaven by his daughter, Dawn Yager-Thomas; father and mother-in-law, Floyd & Virginia Kukla, and his brother-in-law, Rev. Fr.
Gerald F. Kukla. Howard’s family will be present to receive visitors on Thursday, October 4, 2018 from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a 6:00 PM Tribute Cocktail Hour, followed by a 7:00 PM Vigil for Howard at Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 955 N. Pine Rd. , Hampton Twp.
On Friday, October 5, 2018, Howard will be taken to St. Jude Thaddeus Parish (St. John the Evangelist Church), 614 Pine St., Esville, where visiting will continue from 9:00 AM until Howard’s 10:00 AM Funeral Liturgy. Rev. Fr.
Dale Orlik will officiate with a reception immediately following in The Wesley Room at Skorupski’s. The Rite of Committal will be held privately in St. Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery. Howard’s family wishes to extend a heartfelt thanks to Penny, Brenda, and the entire staff at Karmanos Cancer Institute, along with the staff of McLaren Hospice for their compassionate care.
