Hulda’s Obituary Hulda Mehlhoff, 85, West Fargo, ND, formerly of Minot, passed away Sunday, March 24, 2019, at Sheyenne Crossings, West Fargo, ND. Hulda was born on November 9, 1933, a daughter of John and Elizabeth (Ackerman) Weishaar, in Minot, ND. She was raised on the family farm in the Benedict, ND area.

She graduated from Minot High School in 1951 and attended one year of Bible college in Sioux Falls, SD. Hulda held various jobs over the years, including as a teacher in a one-room school house in McLean County, dental assistant for Dr. Stewart in Garrison, ND, and secretary for Soil Conservation Service in Minot. Hulda married Melvin E. Mehlhoff on June 3, 1956, in Garrison, ND.

They farmed and ranched in the Emmet and Ryder, ND areas until they retired and moved to Minot in 1990. Melvin passed away on May 23, 2002. Hulda continued to live in Minot until moving to West Fargo in 2014 to be closer to her son.

Hulda was a member of First Assembly of God Church, Minot, ND and Garrison Bible Church, Garrison, ND. She was active in the church, serving as a Sunday school teacher and participating in women’s ministries. Hulda enjoyed spending time with family, playing piano, baking, gardening, and watching Wheel of Fortune on television.

Surviving family includes: children, Mark D. Mehlhoff, Fargo, ND, Don W. (Tracy) Mehlhoff, St. Helens, OR, and Beth A. (Kerry) Orton, Rochester, MN; grandchildren, Sarah (Andrew) Woodall, Alexis (Daniel) Cole, Emily Mehlhoff, Adam (Ashley) Orton, and Nicole Orton; great-grandchildren Eloise Cole and Sawyer Woodall; brother, Ervin (Ella) Weishaar, Wahpeton, ND; sister, Esther Vitko, Minot; sister-in-law, Alice, Weishaar, Benedict; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Hulda was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Melvin; baby son Mehlhoff (stillborn); daughter and son-in-law, Barbara (Wade) Tompkins; great-grandson, Iaen Cole; brothers, Adolph (Estella) Weishaar, Art (Elsie) Weishaar, Willie (Rena) Weishaar, Albert (Ruby) Weishaar, John (Blanche) Weishaar and Bert Weishaar; sisters, Irene (Clarence) Krebsbach, Alma (John) Schumaier; brother-in-law, Joe Vitko. Funeral: Friday, March 29, 2019, at 2 p.m. at First Assembly of God Church, Minot, ND.

Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, ND. Visitation: Thursday, March 28, 2019 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
