Obituary for Ida Mae Phillips Ida Mae Phillips, 98, of Laurel, passed away on June 11, 2018 at her residence. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 16th at Hickory Grove Cemetery in Laurel. Rev.

Thomas Cheeks will officiate. Born August 24, 1919, she was the last of six siblings born to William and Francis Jones. Mrs. Phillips taught in the Laurel City School System for twenty years as a first and second grade teacher and art teacher.

Her true passion was painting and sewing. She was a long-time member of Highland Church where she was faithful in her walk with her Savior until the end. She was preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Phillips and her daughter, Virginia Saul.

Survivors include her granddaughter, Stacy Saul of Laurel and grandson, Jay Saul of Pensacola, FL; and a host of nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to SCAR or to a charity of your choice. To sign the online guest book, visit www.
