Obituary for Geraldine Johnson Harper Geraldine Johnson Harper, 87, of Laurel, passed away on June 14, 2018 at South Central Regional Medical Center in Laurel. Visitation will be held at Memory Chapel on Saturday, June 16th from 5 until 7 p.m. Services will be at First Baptist Church of Shady Grove on Sunday at 2:30 with interment to follow at Shady Grove Cemetery. Rev.

Jason Goodwin will officiate. The body will be placed in the church at 2 p.m. Mrs. Harper was born in MS on September 4, 1930 and graduated high school in 1949. She was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

She was a member of First Baptist Church of Shady Grove, WMA, and the Singing Saints. She also performed in the Church Christmas program as “Granny”. She was best known for her cooking, especially her handmade pinch biscuits and homemade cobblers.

Preceding her in death were her parents, William Oscar Johnson and Nancy Lyons Johnson; son, Greg Harper, brothers, Cicero Johnson, W. T. Johnson, and Willard Johnson; and sisters, Martha Harper and Delma Bustin. She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Bud Harper; son, Jerry Harper (Patsy); daughter, Beverly Bakhtiari (Hushang); six grandchildren, Brian Harper (Amanda), Bobby Harper (Sharon), Beth Harper Holifield (Jay), Isaiah Harper, Kayla Harper, and Amanda James (Jesse); seven great grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Tianda Harper. Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons, Brian Harper, Bobby Harper, Isaiah Harper, Hushang Bakhtiari, Scott Harper, and Jay Holifield.
