Irene Jones, September 03, 1924 — March 10, 2019

Irene M. Jones, 94, of Crystal Falls, died Sunday, March 10, 2019 at Aspirus Hospital in Iron River. She was born September 3, 1924 in Sagola, daughter of the late Alfonse and Catherine (Reiner) Mercier. She attended Channing High School and was a lifelong resident of the area.

Irene married Sam Jones on April 27, 1945 and he preceded her in death in 2008. She worked in a factory and as a clerk at Pucci’s store for several years. Irene always had lots of energy and could keep up with people half her age.

She took aerobic dancing, played on a bowling league, and was the best rummage sale shopper around. Irene always had whatever anyone needed just by going down to her basement and freely gave away whatever she had. She helped in the kitchen at her church and fed many people over the years.

She hunted, fished, and chopped wood. Irene loved to grow flowers and had a special way with roses. Irene is survived by two grandchildren, Michelle (Rob) Curcio of Tucson, Arizona and Robert (Kyla) Steffen of Phoenix, Arizona; two great-grandchildren, Mikayla and Nicolette; and sister, Dorothy Mercier, of Crystal Falls.

Dot was always there for her sister and took care of her to the very end. Irene was a long time resident of ICMCF and the family wishes to extend their gratitude for the care she received there. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Cheryl Bell.
